One Brave Cowboy

This eBook courtesy of NetGalley and Harlequin.

Favorite quote: “THE NAME’S COUGAR. JUST COUGAR. ONE NAME IS ENOUGH.”

Behind the bravado was a complex man. War hero. “Indian cowboy.” Walking wounded in search of answers. Cougar needed to build a new life, and he’d start with what he loved most. Horses. Which brought him to the Double D Wild Horse Sanctuary. And into the orbit of ranch volunteer Celia Banyon and her very special son.

The boy had suffered an unspeakable accident, and his mother felt unspeakable guilt. But something about Cougar brought her back from the brink. He represented her chance to be a woman again. Now, suddenly, one name wasn’t enough for what they could have if they’d just let themselves. Healing. Love. Family. Forever. In fact, the possibilities were endless…

I love Kathleen Eagle's books and she's done it again with this one!
Cougar is one of the best heroes I've read in a while, he has lots of problems but he isn't afraid to admit them and he's definitely working on them. He has a big heart because as many problems as he has to work on he doesn't back down from helping others too. I love watching the connection develop between him and Mark and Flyboy. Cougar is afraid to take a chance with Celia; he's unsure of what he'll do, but the appeal of a lovely woman, a kindred soul in the body of a horse, and a wonderful little boy just might be what's needed to heal them all.

Celia suffers terrible guilt over Mark's accident. She also suffers the pain of custody visits by her ex, who she knows is fighting for a big settlement to be gotten by his ambulance chasing attorney. The less she sees of her ex, the better off both she and Mark will be.

So if you want to read a feel good romance with a wonderful cowboy hero this is for you!

A Cowboy to Marry

This eBook was courtesy of NetGalley and Harlequin.

Libby Lowell's mind is made up. The only way for the widow to go forward with her life is to leave Laramie, Texas, behind. She should have known rugged rancher Holden McCabe would try to stop her! Her husband's best friend is Libby's fiercest protector. It's not that she doesn't want or need Holden's broad shoulder to cry on. But it's time to put away the past.

Holden isn't letting Libby get away so easily. He hasn't forgotten how she turned to him in her hour of need—and the painful secret she shared. But his idea to push them both into moving on backfires when passion leads to pregnancy…something Libby's wanted for so long.

Is this their biggest mistake…or the second chance they've both been searching for?

This was a sweet sexy romance and is perfect for getting in the holiday spirit. I liked both the main characters and I like the friends to lovers story line. I finished this book with a sigh and the strong urge to find me a cowboy to go looking for mistletoe with, Holden made the perfect hero if I could only find one like him in real life! The addition of the library side plot was also fun and brought out the small town feel. This is a fun read to get swept up in. I'll give it 4 stars.

Last Call

This book courtesy of the LibraryThing early reviewer.

While on vacation, a night out turns into a drunken haze, and Novalee Jensen wakes up hung over, confused, and… married? Fleeing Nevada, Novalee returns home to Montana to hide out, dreading the moment when her husband will show up to take her hard-earned business. But two years later just when Novalee thinks her secret is safe, guess who walks through her door? Now, face-to-face with the man she left in a hotel room two years ago, Novalee discovers the difficult part isn't having to explain her actions that night, or the questions that arise about the sexy stranger's arrival, it's keeping her hands off her husband. And what's Novalee to do when the hardest part turns out not to be confronting her past, but facing a possible future without her soon-to-be ex-husband?

Multi-millionaire Dean Philips wakes up in a Las Vegas hotel room to find the pretty blonde he married the night before gone. The piece of paper he possesses proves she served her purpose, and guilt ridden over his actions, Dean begins a battle with his father for a fight for his grandfather’s fortune. When Dean is ordered to have his wife appear in court, he finds himself in a small town in Montana, looking for the woman who ran off two years ago. Caught up in secrets and lies of his own, he has to find a way to persuade her to come back to Vegas with him without having her find out that she's the missing puzzle piece to everything he's been fighting for. But when Dean decides to mix a little pleasure with business, he suddenly finds himself in unfamiliar territory that could cost him everything

Not your run of the mill romance story, with lots of twist and turns the plot keeps you interested and the characters share a chemistry that is amazing. Ms Schmidt succeeds in making a cliché plot into something different, not your typical go to Vegas, get drunk, wake up married story! I found myself rooting for Novalee and Dean to make it after the first chapter or two! A fun, interesting and unique contemporary romance I give it 4 stars!

One Night in London

This eBook is courtesy of NetGalley and Harper Collins/Avon.

This is the first in “The Truth About A Duke” trilogy. This is the trilogy of three brothers,”Edward the logical, responsible brother; Gerard the independent man of action; and Charlie the enigma”, who find out on their father’s death bed,he had a major secret that could destroy their inheritance and their lives.

A bargain that was all business . . . and pure passion.

Neither wealth nor beauty will help Lady Francesca Gordon win custody of her young niece Georgina, saving the girl from a cruel stepmother; she needs London’s top solicitor for that. But when Edward de Lacey, son of the powerful Duke of Durham, hires away the one man who can do the job, Francesca decides Edward himself must champion her case . . . if only she can melt the dashing lord’s stony heart.

Edward has reason to be guarded, though. London’s tabloids have just exposed a secret that could ruin his entire family. When Francesca offers a unique chance to undo the damage, Edward is forced to agree to a partnership . . . and now, each moment together feeds the flames of his scandalous longing for the passionate widow. But when Georgina disappears, fate will test them both . . . and leave their love hanging in the balance.

This is the first book by Caroline Linden I have read, but it won't be my last! I loved it! The writing drew me in and kept me turning pages until the very end. I really warmed to the characters. Francesca was daring and sassy, but she also brought out Edward's sensual and warm side that had been hiding since the very beginning. They were a great pair that I very much enjoyed getting to know as the story went on. Edward was a different person when he was around Francesca, their personalities complemented each other very well. I will be looking forward to the next book in this series because this one definitely leaves you wondering!!
