Christine please share a short bio with us:
Hi,
my name is Christine Warner and I’m living my dream in rural Michigan with my
husband, three children, one laptop and a much loved assortment of furry
friends.
There’s
nothing better than laughter and I enjoy a good round of humor, spending time
with my family, cooking, reading, writing but no arithmitic. People watching is a huge inspiration for
stories and I also find inspiration in everyday activities. I love to read and write about strong heroes
and determined, sometimes sassy, heroines.
I’m
a girl gone wild, at least where social media is concerned. I enjoy meeting other avid readers and
writers on facebook, twitter and my website at christine-warner.com.
Can you tell us more
about Some Like it in Handcuffs?
Some Like it in Handcuffs is a sexy, light-hearted romantic
suspense with humor. Sunny Kennedy is a
private investigator who is inexperienced in her profession and in matters of
the heart. Judson Blackwolf is a seasoned
detective who is leery about getting involved with the sexy daughter of his
captain. Together they learn they have
to overcome their differences and prejudices against each other to solve a cold
case, and manage it all while they control their growing attraction.
Where did the idea come
from?
I actually came up with the story idea for Some Like it in
Handcuffs with the title. Those 5 words
popped into my head and from there I came up with the characters, plot and
storyline. I know it’s a weird way to
develop a story, but each time I come up with a storyline, it arrives a
different way.
What sort of research
did you do for this book?
I researched guns and
detective ranks and procedures, but since it’s a light-hearted story it’s based
mostly on the characters and their developing romance, so I didn’t need to do a
lot of research about love *wink*
Do you have a common
theme or item that appears in each of your books?
Definitely. Though my story lines are all different,
there is one common thread. I like my
heroes to show at least a hint of a playful, humorous side. And I love for my heroines to be strong with
a little sass J
Who has inspired you as
an author?
I’ve always enjoyed
reading and I’d say I’ve been inspired along the way by all the authors I’ve
read. If I had to pick one person though,
it wouldn’t be another author but my sister.
She’s been an encouraging force who has kept me strong when the going
has gotten tough!
Do you have any “must
haves” with you while you’re writing?
I prefer to have it
quiet when I write. I think I’m easily
distracted, so the less noise or action going on around me, the better.
How do you remember
ideas that come to you at odd times?
I know I’m not the only
one guilty of this…lol…I carry around a pen and notebook…everywhere! I have one in my purse, beside my bed, in
various spots around the house and in my car.
Sticky notes are my best friend.
Actually, I should probably dedicate a book to them. LOL
Describe your writing in
three words.
Fun, real, fast-paced.
What are some of your
favorite books? Who are you reading now?
Wow, I can’t pick a
favorite book. There are so many good
ones. I enjoy anything that makes me
think about the characters and story long after I’ve finished reading…and I’ve
been lucky to find several books like that.
As for what I’m reading now, I actually have put my TBR pile aside. I’m working on another story and I find it
works best for me not to read when I’m writing.
What's next for you?
I just started a
contemporary romance that I’m targeting toward the Entangled Indulgence
line. My working title is 30 Day
Wager. I have a story coming out with
them this summer titled Blind Date Billionaire and I’d love to work with the
Entangled team again.
Where can you be found

Do you have anything
you'd like to ask our readers?
I do…thanks for
asking! What is your favorite type of
hero to read about? Do you like a
serious alpha male that doesn’t talk in circles but lays it on the line, or an
alpha guy with humor, or a soft hearted man who wears his heart on his sleeve?
Here’s a blurb and short excerpt of SOME LIKE
IT IN HANDCUFFS:
Sunny Kennedy, the only female in a family of blue blood
male detectives, is determined to prove testosterone isn’t the only
qualification required to solve a cold case. Handcuffed while undercover then
taken to the precinct by an attractive detective, her domineering family
demands she work with Detective Judson Blackwolf, or she’s off the case.
Judson Blackwolf thinks women in law enforcement should work
behind the scenes. The prospect of working with his Captain’s sexy daughter
doesn’t thrill him. He only agrees in hopes of solving the murder of his one
time mentor’s daughter. Once the case is over, he’s moving to Montana to heal
his wounds from the loss of his last partner.
But when their investigation takes a dangerous turn, Sunny
and Jud soon realize their feelings for each other cannot be denied.
EXCERPT:
The sharp rap on the front door echoed through
her apartment and Sunny jumped. One of the
photographs slipped from her hand and fell to the
rug which covered the worn wooden floor. Chocolate
meowed, jumped from the edge of the yellow leather
sofa then took off for the safety of the bedroom.
Sunny hadn’t realized how quiet the room had
become. The crime scene photos absorbed all of her
attention.
On her way to the door, she looked over the top
of her reading glasses to check the clock on the far
wall. Relieved, she smiled, and pushed her glasses
up the ridge of her nose. There was plenty of time
before she needed to get ready for work.
Pulling the door open as far as the chain
allowed, her eyes widened when she recognized her
visitor. Pleasure welled up inside of her at the sight
of Judson standing on the doorstep. At the same
time, a cold grip of dread climbed her spine. She’d
avoided his calls the last couple of days in hopes he’d
forget about her. Apparently he was as persistent as
she.
“Detective Blackwolf, how can I help you?” She
sounded breathless, excited even, and it annoyed
her. Just because he sent her pulse into hyper-speed
didn’t mean she had to let him know.
“I stopped by to make sure you’re okay.”
“Yes, I’m fine. Thanks. Have a good night.” She
started to close the door, but he slapped his palm
against the wood.
“I’ve called and left several messages.” He raised
one eyebrow a fraction and continued, “How about
letting me in for a chat?”
“About what?”
“You can figure it out.” He stared at her through
the narrow slit in the door, his expression devoid of
humor.
“Hmm, you’re full of intrigue, hang on a sec.”
Sunny closed the door to release the chain and
paused chewing on her lower lip. If only she had
pretended not to be at home. She needed to invest in
a peep hole so she could screen her visitors. Taking a
deep breath, she released the lock and gestured him
inside with a defeated wave of her hand. “Come on
in. Let’s talk.”
As he sauntered past her, hands tucked inside
the front pockets of his trousers, her gaze drifted to
the taut fabric stretched over his behind. Heat flared
on her cheeks, and she looked away, but not before
her glasses slid down to the tip of her
nose.

Hi Christine - great interview and good to find out more about you. Look forward to reading your book. My favourite kind of hero is a mixture of alpha and beta - strong and charismatic, but sensitive too!
ReplyDeleteI like the mixture too! Okay, let's face it...you pretty much can't go wrong with any type of hero...lol. If paired with the right heroine it'll be an amazing read!
DeleteThanks so much for coming by Paula :)
I love that you and I write so similarly, Chirstine. Sometimes the titles come to me first too. Nice interview!
ReplyDeleteLove to hear that Calisa...I haven't met to many others that come up with a title first then the story! Glad you came by:)

ReplyDeleteLOL...you sounds a bit mischievous Cait! Love it :) Glad you enjoyed the book!
DeleteHi Christine, I now have pens and paper everywhere especially in my purse. I never used to carry paper in my purse and then one day while I was waiting in the doctor's office, something happened that triggered a snippet of a scene and I had no paper. I jotted a few sentences on my forearm (didn't want to write it on my palm, it might have smudged). Imagine trying to explain that to your doctor and not sounding like you're ready for a padded room. LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL...love that Katherine..too funny. I was caught with no paper either and ended up writing some notes on a tissue...no easy feat for sure. After that I learned to carry a notebook...as for a pen or pencil...for some reason I always have at least 50 (or so it seems lol) in my purse!
DeleteThanks for coming by!
Great interview. I loved Some Like It In Handcuffs and can't wait for more books from you.
ReplyDeleteAs far as what type of hero I like, that's easy - any sexy, alpha man.

ReplyDeleteFun interview! I prefer the alpha male, but he has to have a sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Ally...like your choice! Thanks for coming by :)
